World Environment Day 2026

The Forest Research Institute, Dehradun celebrated World Environment Day with the theme: Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For our life. On this occasion, a programme of Kavia Path and on spot Quiz competition was conducted where employees of the institute and research scholars of FRI Deemed to be university, Dehradun participated in the programme. Prizes were given to the winners of the competition. Shri Lokinder Sharma, compeering the programme invited Dr. Charan Singh, Head Extension Division to deliver vote of thanks. At the onset, Dr. Charan Singh, Head Extension Division welcomed the Director Ms. Richa Misra. All participants and gave the outline of the programme. In her address, Ms. Richa Misra spoke on the importance of World Environment Day and mentioned that the day createstold and motivate people for Environment Protection to make our life healthy and better. She mentioned that the celebration of the day provides people an opportunity to come forwardand know the reasons behind the deterioration of our environment and take steps for its restoration.A team of Judges including Mr. D. P. Khali, Group Coordinator Research, Dr. V. K. Varshney, Scientist-G and Dr. Charan Singh, Head Extension Division evaluated the performance of participants of Kavita Path competition.

The programme was attended by above 80 participants including scientists, officers, staff of the institute, research scholars and students of the FRI Deemed to be university.

On this occasion, a tree plantation drive was also organized jointly by the Extension Division and the Silviculture&Forest Management Division in the institute campus under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The plantation drive was formally inaugurated by the Director of the Institute by planting a sapling.

The team of Extension Division including Sh. Lokinder Sharma, Scientist-C and Sh. Amit Singh, Sh. Naveen Chauhan, Sh. Pawan Devshali, Sh. Pushkar Singh, and Sh. Manoj Dhanka under the supervision of the Head Extension did a commendable work to make the programme successful.
