The Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, celebrated the 80th Independence Day on 15 August 2026 in front of the Main Building.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Smt. Kanchan Devi, Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), unfurled the National Flag. The students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, FRI, presented the National Anthem and patriotic songs. Thereafter, Smt. Richa Mishra, Director, Forest Research Institute, delivered her greetings and message on the occasion of Independence Day.

Smt. Kanchan Devi, Director General, ICFRE, extended her warm greetings to everyone on the 80th Independence Day. She appealed to all those present to make their fullest contribution towards the progress and development of the nation. She also highlighted the latest initiatives and ongoing activities being undertaken by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education.

On the occasion, the Director, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy; Director, Directorate of Forest Education; Principal, Central State Forest Academy; IFS Probationers; trainees of the Central State Forest Academy; employees; officers, scientists and staff of the Institute and Council were present.

On this auspicious occasion of Independence Day, the Main Building of the Institute was illuminated at night, adding splendour to the celebrations.
