Forest Research Institute celebrated National Technology Day on 11th May 2026 with great enthusiasm. The exhibition aimed to disseminate scientific and technical knowledge through posters, models, and display materials. All Heads of Divisions, Scientists, and Officers of the Institute participated and presented their recent scientific achievements and technological advancements.
The exhibition was inaugurated at 10:30 AM by Smt. Richa Misra, IFS, Director In-charge, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. She visited the exhibition, interacted with scientists, and appreciated the innovative research and technologies developed by various divisions. She encouraged scientists and officers to continue their efforts in effectively disseminating research outcomes for the benefit of society. The major highlights of the exhibition included thermo-hygro-mechanically modified wood, hydrophobic wood of superior quality, and advanced wood finishes mimicking materials such as tiles, stone, and metal. Other exhibits featured molecular and biotechnological interventions aimed at enhancing disease tolerance and adaptability of elite tree genotypes under diverse agro-climatic conditions. Innovative hydroponic and aeroponic techniques for bamboo propagation, improved germplasm, and other advanced forestry technologies were also showcased. Forest protection division presented three novel fungal species new to science—Calonectria populi, Calonectria caudovesiculata, and Trichoderma frianum. In addition, various techniques and methodological approaches for assessing industrial pollution were exhibited. Informational materials such as pamphlets, brochures, leaflets, and booklets highlighting research outputs and technologies developed by different divisions were also displayed.
