MANDATE

The Cellulose and Paper (C&P) Division has been pioneering in the field of pulp and paper to cater the needs of Indian Paper Industry through R&D activities and technological development.  At present the division has two scientists and 06 technical and other staff. During the review period, the Division published 12 papers in the international peer reviewed journals and 06 papers in the national journals. Division has successfully completed 9 externally funded projects since revival of the Division in 2006. The Division submitted 04 Technical Reports to various funding agencies. 05 Ph.D. theses were supervised by the Scientists of the Division.
Efficient utilisation of raw material for pulp and papermaking.

Objectives:

• To Undertake Basic and Applied Research in Pulp and Paper Technology; Fibrous raw material utilization, Pulping, Bleaching, Stock preparation, wet end additives, by-products utilization, effluent treatment, paper making and quality improvement.
• Technological Development in Renewable Biomass Bio-energy Science; bio-ethanol from forest waste and black liquor utilization.
• To generate quality human resources in the field of Cellulose & Paper through Master and Doctoral programmes.
