19th FRI University Annual Sports Meet was held on today 11th October, 2022 in University Sports Ground FRI.

The 19th Annual Sports Competition of FRI (Deemed) University, organized from 11 to 14 October 2022, was organized on 11 October 2022 by Director General ICFRE and University Chancellor Mr Arun Singh Rawat, IAF at University Ground (Brandis Road) Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. was inaugurated. All the students of FRI University are participating in this sports meet. On this occasion, Dr. HS Ginwal, Dean, FRI University gave the welcome address and Dr. AK Tripathi, Registrar, University gave the vote of thanks. Honorary Sports Officer of the University, Shri RS Bhandari administered the oath to the students on this occasion. All the participants are divided into 04 houses which are Teak House, Pine House, Sandalwood House and Sal House etc. All the houses presented an impressive march past on the inauguration. Chief guest Shri Arun Singh Rawat took the salute of the parade. In this march past, Sandal House got first, Pine and Sal House got second and Teak House got third place. Congratulating all the participants, Shri Arun Singh Rawat, the Chancellor, said that “Sports and healthy activities are important components for the development of every participant, both mentally and physically”. These types of competitions rejuvenate a person’s ability to do everyday work more efficiently. Senior forest officers, scientific faculty members of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and Forest Research Institute were prominently present in the inauguration ceremony. Students are participating in 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and cross country race for both men and women category. In addition to running, there will also be competitions in shotput, javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, high jump and towing. Volleyball match will be held only for men’s category. Competitions like Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis and Carrom etc. have also been organized for the students. On the first day of this sports competition, men’s 100 meter heat run, women’s and men’s shot put, javilion throw event were organized. In men’s shot put event, Pradeep Yadav of Sandal House stood first. Rakesh of Teak House stood second and Mangesh of Sal House stood third.
On October 14, 2022, at 2:00 pm, the three-day sports festival concluded with staff race, rope-roaring and prize distribution.
