MANDATE
The Forest Soil & Land Reclamation (FSLR) Division is devoted to the research on physical, chemical and microbiological properties of various forest soils. The main mandate of the Division is sustainable management of soil resources and bio rejuvenation of waste lands.
The Division has 03 Scientists and 03 Technical, 01 Ministerial and 2 other staffs. The Division has working two externally aided and two ICFRE plan funded projects. The findings of the research projects will be leads to protection, improvement of environment and sustainable management of forests and generally academic in nature. The Scientists in the Division give highest priority to publication of their research results and reports in the journals of high impact factor in order to maintain high academic standard. Lack of sufficient number of Scientists with supporting research staff is the main constraint in the Division.
There is an urgent need for posting of additional Scientist and Technical staff. This Division’s major mandates are:
- Monitoring and impact assessment of natural and plantation forest soils for sustainable productivity.
- Soil diagnostics and developing technology for afforestation of degraded lands.
- Evolving criteria and indicators for sustainable management of wastelands.
- Imparting education and training in forest soils and wastelands for future needs.
- Advisory and consultation for different land uses.
