
The Forest Ecology and Climate Change (FE&CC) Division, Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE),organised a One day Seminar on “Recent Trends in Environmental Monitoring for Maintaining Forest Health Amidst Climate Change Challenges” on 24thMarch 2025 at the Board Room, FRI, Dehradun.
The inaugural session commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Parul Bhatt Kotiyal, Scientist-F & Head, FE&CC Division, FRI, followed by the Inaugural Address delivered by Dr. Renu Singh, IFS, Director, FRI, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Singh emphasised the growing threats climate change poses to forest ecosystems and stressed the urgent need for robust monitoring mechanisms to sustain forest health. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abhishek K. Verma, Scientist-C, FE&CC Division.
Over 70 delegates, including scientists, research scholars, and project fellows, attended the Seminar. The event featured insightful technical sessions from eminent experts such as Dr. P.K. Joshi, Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, Dr. Surendra Singh Suthar, Dean HoD, School of Environment and Natural Resources, Doon University, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Scientist E, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, and Dr. Bishnu Prasad Sahoo, Scientist B, FRI, covering a range of themes from climate change vulnerabilities to microplastic deposition and advanced monitoring tools. A Poster Presentation Session showcased the scientific contributions of young researchers, with the top three posters receiving excellence awards.
