Webinar on Recent Advances in Forest Entomology and Pathology.

A Divisional webinar on “Recent Advances in Forest Entomology and Pathology” was organized by the Forest Protection Division, FRI, Dehradun on 30thJanuary 2025 from 10:30 AM to 01:30 PM. Dr. Arun Pratap Singh, Head, Forest Protection Division, welcomed all the delegates and participants. Dr Renu Singh, IFS, Director, ICFRE- FRI, Dehradun, inaugurated the event. She emphasized the importance of innovative technologies to protect Forests from abiotic and biotic factors. Invited speakers shared their groundbreaking research during the event. The first speaker, Dr Navneet Singh, Scientist E, ZSI, Kolkata discussed the topic “Pollen transportation by moths (Lepidoptera): updates from Indian Himalayas. He, through his deliberation, mentioned fascinating things about pollination by moths and urged for their conservation. The second speaker, Dr. Manica Tomar, Senior Plant Pathologist, Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan discussed on “Integrated disease management strategies in Forest and Horticulture Crops”. She highlighted that the harmonious approach of IDM is the need of the hour to protect horticultural crops and forest trees. All the scientists of the Forest Protection Division, FRI, Dehradun were present during the webinar. The deliberations by the esteemed invited speakers gave an insight and advanced our knowledge of the recent developments in Forest Entomology and Pathology. Further, it opened avenues for their application in forest ecosystem management for achieving sustainability.
