 Cellulose & Paper Division

Mandate :

The Cellulose and Paper (C&P) Division has been pioneering in the field of pulp and paper to cater the needs of Indian Paper Industry through R&D activities and technological development.  At present the division has two scientists and 06 technical and other staff. During the review period the Division published 06 papers in the international peer reviewed journals and 03 papers in the national journals. Division has successfully completed 7 externally funded projects since revival of the Division in 2006. The Division submitted 04 Technical Reports to various funding agencies. 01 Ph.D. theses was supervised by the Scientists of the Division. The division needs to be nurtured by providing latest equipments and sufficient man power so that its potential can be fully utilized to meet the national and international level of research in current scenario. More efforts are required by the division to increases revenue generation through testing which would be a source of regular income. Pilot plant facility which is only one of its kind in the country for R&D, needs to be renovated and upgraded, so that it can serve the Indian paper industries and also serve as a regular source of income. The Project on Strengthening of Facilities and services in pulp and paper technology, which is under submission for Japanese aid has to be seriously pursued so that the problems of the division would be solved in the years to come.

  • Conduction of teaching/training programs leading to Certificate Course, PG  Diploma and Doctorate Degree
